Fabric Covered Bulletin Board

I made my mom and mother-n-law each a fabric-covered bulletin board for Christmas.  Then, I wanted to make one for myself.  I looked around my house and found a cork trivet in one of my kitchen drawers that I wasn't using.  It was perfect to convert it into a bulletin board.  This project did not cost me a single penny, since I used items that I already had on hand.  My husband loved that!

Materials
batting
fabric remnant
cork trivet (7 1/2" diameter)
hot glue gun
glue sticks
ribbon (8" length)
tape measure
iron

Directions

Cut batting into a circle about 1 1/2 inches larger than the trivet.

Cut slits in batting every 1/2 inch, being careful not to cut too far.

Using a hot glue gun, glue each 1/2 inch section to trivet.

Cut the fabric into a circle about 2 inches larger than the trivet.
Cut slits every 1/2 inch and no longer than 1 1/2 inches.

Iron fabric and place wrong side up with trivet on top.
Using hot glue gun, glue each 1/2 fabric section.

Once you are finished gluing, the back should look like this.
I trimmed off the extra batting and glued down the material to clean it up some.

Glue ribbon on back as a hanger.

Now, your fabric covered bulletin board it ready to be hung!

Enjoy some magic tonight!

I found this recipe for Magic Cookie Bars on a can of sweetened condensed milk purchased at Aldi.  They sounded so good, so I thought I'd give them a try.  I was pleasantly surprised.  My husband said he liked them so I knew I had a winner.  Enjoy with a tall glass of cold milk!

Magic Cookie Bars
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup pecan halves, coarsely chopped
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Place butter in an 8 inch square pan; heat in oven until melted.  Combine brown sugar and graham cracker crumbs in a bowl and sprinkle evenly over melted butter.  In layers, add chocolate chips, coconut and pecans.  Pour sweetened condensed milk over top.  Bake 30 minutes.  Allow to cool completely before slicing.
